For the folk at Westbridge Academy, Battersea

This week at Westbridge

I am delighted to be starting a new weekly post where I hope to share some stories about what our kids have been up to at home (and at school, whenever that may be!).

Happy 5th birthday Grayson!

Happy 5th birthday Grayson!

Let’s kick off our weekly update about what a few of our Westbridgers have been up to by wishing Grayson (Reception) the happiest of birthdays! He baked this delicious looking cake with his mum and I’m pretty sure all his friends from Reception would have loved a slice. It seems like all his birthday wishes came true with that shiny new big bike – I’m sure he is going to have so much fun with it!

Sisters Cerys (Year 6) and Amber (Year 3) have been super creative making this amazing display especially for NHS workers. I love how they turned empty toilet rolls into these mini pieces of art. Their work is being well appreciated and they even received this sweetest note from an NHS worker! Both girls are truly inspiring in how they have been helping out and spreading joy within the local community.

They’ve also been creative in other ways too. Look at these awesome hair transformations which were all achieved using coloured crepe paper and a bit of help from their mum! How cool is that?!

Kai’s amazing book cover!

Kai’s amazing book cover!

Kai (Year 3) has been busy drawing book covers and I think we have a future illustrator on our hands! Kai’s work is absolutely fantastic and I’m sure lots and lots of kids would read his book based on the cover alone!

Lewis (Reception) is not letting the lockdown stop him from being active! Look at the fun he’s been having! Lewis, I’m so impressed with your climbing skills and it seems like you have really cracked how to stay fit while following the social distancing rules – very smart!

Lewis hard at work!

I’m also very impressed by his train-track building. I am sure Lewis and his little brother Ethan have been keeping entertained for hours with this!

Just look at these amazing designs below by Benedicta (Year 6)! I can tell how much thought was have put into this and I love the message of “unity” and “working together”. I’m sure a lot of people would be very proud to wear her t-shirt and play with that football. These designs really are brilliant and motivational!

Over in our corner, Amber (Reception) tried her hand at a simple oil and water science experiment. She really enjoyed it and it even kept her quiet for about 20 mins! You can find the experiment here if you would like to have a go too. Amber also made her first diorama box. She wanted to create a scene where she was on a swing, and I think it came out pretty well.

Wow, our Westbridgers really have been keeping busy with so many brilliant activities! I’ve loved seeing all these pictures and have been very inspired by them – I’m sure everyone at school will be too! A huge thank you to all the parents who have shared these with us!

I hope we can make this into a weekly thing - so please do spread the word and keep sending me things that you have been up to! If you would like to include your kids in future posts please just send me an email!

Lots of love!
